TV Barn and TeeVee.net nutshell guide to the Fall 2007 premieres
Cane
Official "Cane" web site
The Duque family rules a sugar cane and rum empire. But things arent as sweet as you might think. Brother Frank (Nestor Carbonell) wants to sell the familys sugar holdings to the rival Samuels family. Favored brother-in-law Alex Vega (Jimmy Smits) doesnt. Patriarch Pancho (Hector Elizando) knows the horrible facts about the two families violent past. Family, money, power, sex, business, and violence combine to tell the story of the Duque family and its rivals. Let the internecine jealousies and corporate rivalries commence!
| Aaron's take: | This latest attempt to create an all-Latino family drama is not only no "Resurrection Blvd.," it doesn't even measure up to the mediocre "American Family." Besides, we're over the whole "Dynasty" thing. A better idea would've been a crime investigation show set in a major U.S. city for Latinos, but CBS already made "CSI: Miami" with an Anglo lead. |
